Only three weeks left to apply

Friday 16th March 2018

The scholarship application deadline is only three weeks away, which means you don’t have much time left to get your application forms sent in to us!

The application form, which can be downloaded from the CPL(H) tab at the top of our website, has to be either sent to us in the post or handed in, in person by Saturday 31st March. If you would like to know more about how the scholarship application and selection process works, call a member of our Operations Team today on 0116 259 1834.

Every year the standard of applicants is exceptionally high, making the selection process for just one aspiring pilot for each Scholarship incredibly difficult.

Our most recent scholarship winner, Janine from Northants, who was awarded our 2017 Commercial Pilots Licence (H) Scholarship has been studying hard for her ATPL(H) Theoretical Knowledge exams and set to complete these by October, which will enable her to complete any hour building that’s left, followed by the CPL(H) course which will see her become a Commercial Pilot before the end of 2018.

The CPL(H) Scholarship covers the entire cost of the ATPL(H) theoretical knowledge course, all post-PPL(H) hour building (including the chance to fly some hours at our Winter Haven base in Florida) and the complete CPL(H) modular flying course. In order to be eligible for the CPL(H) Scholarship, applicants must submit a fully completed application form by 31st March 2018 and have completed their Private Pilots Licence with us at Helicentre Aviation by 30th September. We do offer a comprehensive PPL(H) course package, which includes everything you need to train and pass your PPL(H). For more information about the costs and what’s included in the package, call a member of our Operations team today on 0116 259 1834.

The FI(H) Scholarship covers the cost of our EASA approved Flight Instructor Certificate Course and provides an immediate route into full time instructing work, here at Helicentre Aviation.

We are constantly recruiting new instructors and this was our initial motivation for creating the FI(H) Scholarship; it is the most valuable licensing add-on you can get in terms of the career opportunities it creates. In order to be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must have completed their CPL(H) course with us at Helicentre Aviation by 30th September and submitted a fully completed application form by 31st March 2018.

If you haven’t yet started your PPL(H) training, don’t worry, there is still time. We regularly run free Career Seminars, which provide a great insight into the available training options including our Scholarship Programmes and the career pathways, that could lead you to fulfilling your goals and swiftly get you working as a professional Helicopter Pilot.

Career Seminar bookings can be made online, alternatively, call a member of our Operations Team on 0116 259 0186.

2018 scholarship application deadline extended

Tuesday 19th December 2017

We’re thrilled today to announce that our deadline for applications for our 2018 Helicopter Pilot Scholarship Programme has been extended!

Applications were due to be submitted by 31st December 2017, but to encourage new talent to the helicopter industry we’ve decided to extend the deadline until 31st March 2018. Students still have until 30th September 2018 to complete the PPL(H) course with us and pass their Skill Test.

Each year, we award two full Scholarships: a Commercial Pilot (CPL(H)) Scholarship, with a value of £55k, and a Flight Instructor (FI(H)) Scholarship, worth £19k, to successful applicants.

The CPL(H) Scholarship covers the entire cost of all post-PPL(H) hour building (including the chance to fly some hours at our Winter Haven base in the Sunshine State of Florida, USA), the ATPL(H) theoretical knowledge course and the complete CPL(H) modular flying course – a total of up to 145 hours flight time in a Guimbal Cabri G2.

The FI(H) Scholarship pays for the complete 30-hour Flight Instructor course and will reward the winner with a full-time Flight Instructor position us upon completion.

Over the years our Scholarship Programme has proven to be extremely successful, providing winners with much-needed funding to complete their professional training, but it has also been the biggest single investment in the future of our industry that we as a company have made; 2018 is the sixth year we have offered such a life-changing opportunity to help budding pilots fast-track their way onto the career ladder.

So high was the standard of applications this year, we took the unprecedented step to launch a further £60,000 Scholarship fund, consisting of three part-funded Scholarships (worth £10,000 each) and £30,000 of Awards to be given to promising applicants to complete their training and further their careers.

Once these prizes have been handed out later this month, our Scholarship Programme, which is unlike any other in the country, will have awarded in excess of half-a-million-pounds in professional training since it launched in 2012.

The 2018 Scholarships application form has been released

Tuesday 10th October 2017

We have already announced next years scholarships and we are now pleased to announce that the applciation form has been reasled with some differences from previous years.

If you've applied with us before, you'll know that there are two seperate applciation forms for the CPL(H) and FI(H) scholarships. For 2018, you will apply for either or both on the same application form. The application criteria have changed slightly too so make sure you read the form carefully.

You can now apply for both the CPL(H) and FI(H) scholarships at PPL level. What this means is that should you be unsuccessful in being selected for the CPL(H) scholarship, you could still be selected for the FI(H) scholarship if you meet the requirements post-selection. You can still apply for the FI(H) scholarship if you already hold a commercial helicopter pilot licence.

The other difference this year is that the application forms must be completed and submitted to Helicentre Aviation by the 31st of December 2017. You then have until the 30th of September 2018 to complete your PPL(H) course and take the required skill test.

This is the sixth year running that Helicentre Aviation has offered two incredible scholarships paying for around £70,000 worth of flight training. We have had many successful applicants benefit greatly in the past and some are working with us today!

The winner of the CPL(H) scholarship can expect their ATPL(H) ground school theory course to be paid for, all required hour building up to the start of the CPL(H) modular course, and then the commercial course itself. The hour building will most likely be carried out in the beautiful sunshine state of Florida at Helicentre Aviation's new operating base at Winter Haven Airport. These exciting opportunities do not come around often so apply now and get your flight training booked in so that you do not miss out.

To enrol onto a PPL(H) course and book your training, please call 0116 259 0186 and you can speak to one of our team. Alternatively, you can fill out our enquiry form.
